We are seeking a junior to mid-level Metallurgist/Materials/Process Engineer to join our Casting Technical team to support local and plant-wide improvement projects

Ensure customer quality satisfaction
Process control and optimization for Casting/Scalping
Continuous metallurgical improvement and process investigation
Improve Casting recovery by improving process control and metallurgy practices
Improve internal ingot quality (ie. Sonic inclusions/porosity/chemistry to support plate path)
Improve ingot surface quality.
Work heavily with automation group to reduce sources of variability/human error.
Provide accurate documents and training for operations and support staff.
Maintain the quality systems requirement for the Casting and Scalping areas (internal audits, equipment calibration, CAR, PFMEA, external audits, etc.)
Support Plate/Coil New Product Development
Support operations in process investigation and increasing overall throughout efficiency
Bachelor?s Degree in Metallurgical/Materials/Process Engineering or equivalent.
1 to 3 years? experience in a manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate will have previous exposure to Aluminum DC Casting and ingot casting recipe management.
Must have good interpersonal skills and be comfortable working with a multidisciplinary team.
Be a highly motivated self-starter with excellent problem solving and organization skills. This includes both leading and participating in CI projects.
Expected to have a solid grasp of MS Office programs as well as the ability to rapidly learn new software.
Basic understanding of engineering drawings and automation systems is considered an assist.
Exposure to Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma is preferred
